A Birthday Card for my Mama

Happy Thursday!  Today is my Mum's birthday.  She is crafty too, so I bought her a crafty gift, and made her set of mongram cards which I will show you next week, and I made her a card.  Here is what I came up with:

Isn't it pretty?  2 weeks ago - my fellow Cricut Cardz Design Team member Nicole, made THIS beautiful card.  I thought it was gorgeous, so I decided to make my own take on it.  I cut the top layer at 4 x 5.25 on my Gypsy girl.  I welded a 1.8 inch circle to the center of it.  I then cut out 2 more circles for the other two flowers to sit on.  The tulips are cut from Give a Hoot.  The sentiment is from TPC Studios Greeting set.  The ribbon is from Michaels and the paper is a mish mash of Stampin Up, Recollections and stuff from my scrap box.

You can see here how I pop-dotted each if the layers up.  I like the dimension it gives the "white on white" look of the card.  I hope Mum likes it :)

A challenge or two for my card:
Bitten by the Bug - in the garden
Fab'n'Funky - celebrations
Celebrate the Occasion - anything goes
Party Time Tuesdays - anything goes
Shopping Our Stash - floral
Robyn's Fetish - birthday card with sentiment

Isn't it ca-ute??!!  I used Elegant Edges to create the shaped layer.  Then I used the Recess Lite cartridge to make the little boy.  I peachied him up using Peachy Keen's Boy Mates faces, did a little bit of doodling and used my Stampin Up chalks to give him cheeks.  The sentiment is from TPC Studio's Greetings stamp set.  I used some Bakers Twine for the ribbon around the diploma, and voila!

Hop on over to Cardz TV and see what the Cricut Cardz design team came up with and play along with us!

Box and Tag

Last month, I bought Cricut's new Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 cartridge.  this is the first thing I have cut from it:

I cut the box at the recommended size.  It is really small :)  It would be perfect for a couple of little candies, or maybe some hair clips or something.  Very, very cute!  The tag is from the Stampin Up tag punches.  I doodled on it, and then stamped it with a Flourishes sentiment from the Sweet Days of Summer set.  The paper, both patterned and cardstock, is from CTMH and the ribbon is from Michael's.

Super cute, isn't it??  I will definitely be cutting some more things from this cartridge!  I think I will also try to figure out how to make it bigger...  Hope you all have a great day!  I will be back tomorrow with my Cricut Cardz Challenge submission for this week  Hope to see you then :)

A challenge or two for my little box:

Scrappy Frog Challenge - "tag it"
Secret Crafter - anything but a card

A Card for a Friend

I made this card for a friend , who is facing some challenges right now.  I hope she like's it :)  Here it is:

I love these sweet little girl's from MFT's Pure Innocence Line.  I paper pieced her umbrella and her rain gear.  I have NEVER done that before, but I think it looks cute!  I embossed the background paper with Cuttlebug's Seeing Spots.  The sentiment is from Flourishes April Showers, I also used that stamp set for the umbrella on the inside of the card.  The sentiment on the inside of the card, is one that I picked up at a yard sale at my LSS, so I don't know who made it.  The cardstock is from Recollections, and the patterned paper is from my scrap box.

I think it turned out really cute, I hope it helps my friend feel hopeful.

Here is a challenge or two for my card:
Make it Monday - anything goes
Totally Gorjuss - something new (paper piecing technique)
Dilly Beans Challenge - friendship (a card made especially for a friend)

52 Questions - Favorite Cartoon

Happy Friday everyone!  It is challenge day over at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges.  Today, Janis challenged us to create a project based on our favorite childhood cartoon.  We did not watch much TV when I was a child, so I didn't watch many cartoons, so I kind of had to use my imagination with this one.  Hello Kitty, was created the year I was born.  For my 8th birthday, on of my friends gave me a Hello Kitty doll.  That day my life long love of Hello Kitty was born.  Here is the tag I created:

How could you not love her?  I cute the tag from Plantin Schoolbook and Hello Kitty from HK Greetings.  I created the "patterned paper" by taking a piece of cardstock and randomly stamping paws on it with Versa Mark - I love how it turned out!  The "meow" is from a cute stamp set I found at my LSS - I have NO CLUE what company it's from - sorry.  I doodled on her with my Sakura Jelly Roll pen.  The cardstock is from Recollections and the ribbon is from Michael's.

There is a prize for one lucky person who plays along with us this month.  They will win 4 Action Wobbles from The Scrapbooking Queen's Royal Shoppe, so come on over to Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges, and play along with us!!

A challenge or two for my little tag:
Papercraft Journey - anything for a child
Creative Mondays - stitching
Make it Monday - anything goes
Stamps and Fun = Creativity - anything goes
Addicted to Stamps - black, white and one other color

Paper Playtime - Friendship

Happy Monday everyone!  I have some very exciting news!  Janis has asked me to rejoin the amazing Paper Playtime design team!  I love the creativity of all the talented women on this team, and I am so honored to be asked to rejoin them!  It is Challenge #75 at Paper Playtime, and this week Janis has challenged us to make a card celebrating Friendship.  Here is what I came up with:

Cute, eh?  The cut is from A Child's Year.  I love this cartridge, I don't know why I don't use it more.  The stamp is from Flourishes Sweet Days of Summer.  As a good Canadian girl, my all time favorite movies are the Anne of Green Gables movies - Anne and her best friend Diana are "kindred spirits".  I have loved the sentiment since I was a little girl, and was so excited to find it is this beautiful stamp set.

The paper is all from a CTMH paper pack, and I used the Victorine folder from Cuttlebug to emboss the turquoise paper.  The green ribbon is from Michaels.  I was really happy with how this simple card turned out.

Don't forget the as the third Monday of the month, the challenge at Paper Playtime is to "say it with sentiments".  You can create any project you want, as long as it includes a sentiment, and follows the friendship theme.

There will be 2 lucky winners this week, who play along with us.  One of our DT sisters, Amy from Papertrails Leaver will be giving one lucky participant and finished card and a card kit to make a second card.  The Scrapbooking Queen's Royal Castle Shoppe will be giving one lucky participant the Nursery Stamp Set and 4 Action Wobbles.

So, head on over to Paper Playtime, see what the rest of the talented DT came up with, and play along with us, for the chance to win one of these amazing prizes!

52 Weeks of Tags - Wishes

Happy Friday!  It is challenge day over at 52 Weeks of Tags.  Today Janis challenged us to make a tag with the three wishes we would make if we found a genie and a magic lamp.  I took some liberties with this tag.  I found a perfect stamp, with the wishes I would make for everyone that I love, so I used that for my tag.  Here is what I came up with:

I cut the tag at 4 inches from Plantin Schoolbook, the cherry blossoms are from a beautiful Flourishes set.  I will have to find you the name of the stamp set that the sentiment comes from, it is in my craft room,  I'm afraid I'm feeling lazy at the moment :)  I colored the cherry blossoms with my Prisma Color Pencils.

There is a prize for one lucky person who plays along with us this month.  The Scrapbooking Queen's Royal Shoppe is giving away a 4 pack of Action Wobbles:

May the Force be With You!

Hi everyone, and welcome to the May the Force be With You blog hop!  If you are looking for my 52 Weeks of Tags post, just click HERE, or scroll down to the next post.  If you just came from the very talented Michelle's blog, Scrappin With my Bug, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened to come and visit me, then I encourage you to start at Candace's Blog, and hop along with all of us, there may even be a little bit of Blog Candy... and who doesn't love Blog Candy??

So, onto my project.  I decided to do a scrapbook page.  I am SO far behind in my scrapbooking, and I knew I had some Star Wars pictures.  Here is what I came up with:

The blue background paper is from CTMH, the cardstock is all from Michaels.  I used Robotz for the title - it is my favorite chunky font, and the bottom title is from Alphalicious.  The light sabres, and R2D2, I created on my Gypsy.  They are made with George and Basic Shapes all welded together.  Cricut doesn't have any Star Wars things - as far as I know - so I tried to make my own - I am pretty happy with how they turned out :)

This is the second page of my two page spread - as you can see, my daughter was a kitty cat that year - not exactly in keeping with the Star Wars theme - but she looked adorable.  Andrew even tried out his super powers on a neighbor while trick or treating.  The patterned paper is CTMH and the cardstock is from Michales.  I punched a couple of stars out of the red paper with an old CM punch, and made two more light sabres, using George and Basic Shapes.

Andrew was thrilled when he saw the page I made, he loved my R2D2, so do I :)  I was wishing I had a different die cutting machine, so I could take advantage of all those awesome files that are out there, but I managed to make something using what I have!

I have a small stamp set to give away as Blog Candy today.  In order to win it, please leave a comment and a way for me to reach you, and become a follower, if you aren't already.

There is a second prize, for one lucky person who comments on every stop along our Blog Hop.  Jaded Blossom has donated a stamp set.  I wish I could win this, it's a great stamp set!  Isn't it perfect for this hop??

The next stop on the hop, is the wonderfully talented goddess, Ruthie, over at September Ninth.  She is one of my crafting icons - when I grow up, I want to have half the talent she has in her baby finger!  I know she has created something fabulous for you, she gave us a sneak peek, and you will NOT want to miss it!  Just in case you get lost, here is a complete list of everyone who is playing along with us today:

Thanks for visiting today, and may the force be with you :)
